The Tunisian play, "Alzheimer" has won the "The Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi Award for Best Arab Theatrical Performance" at the 4th Arab Theatre Festival which has concluded at the Royal Cultural Center in Amman Sunday evening, January 15, 2012. The award is worth 100,000 Dirhams.
The jury committee, chaired by director Roger Assaf, has announced that the play "Alzheimer", which was selected="true" over six other competing performances, deserves praise especially with regards to how accurately and tersely it employs scenography to serve the performance without sidetracking from the details of the script. Moreover, the committee also praised the spatial composition of the performance, and the promising skill of the play's director who succeeded in poetically, surreally and ironically conveying the important ideas and themes of the play to the audience. The committee added that this has been achieved in the play through many surprising moments and through the harmony between the visual and musical elements of the performance and between the adequate performance techniques. The winning play will staged at the opening ceremony of the Sharjah Theatre Days Festival.
