
Tuesday evening the 2nd of February 2010, was the beginning of exhibition "East meets west" that contains a selected="true"="true"="true" collection of photos, paintings and a number of creative artworks by many artists. This exhibition took place in the Armed Forces Officers' club in Abu Dhabi.
Six artists participated in the exhibition; each has a unique style and own artistic vision. German artist Marcos Chilly displayed a number of his abstract works distinguished by the number of repeated circles which turned into oval shapes in some paintings; he was keen to add clear and outspoken colorful brush strokes such as yellow and red among other colors. He erased the lines in other paintings making some look full of life and others seem unfinished, especially when he left white spaces in some of the paintings. In a number of the paintings he added the title "A Hotel project" while other murals remind us of Sistine Chapel ceiling.
Emirate artist Karima Al Shomali presented four groups of artworks, the first group she entitled "Silence" consists of a group of paintings and photos. The second group entitled "Monologue" consists of photographic pictures. The third group entitled "life's circle" which she maid by using different materials such as ropes and wires, gauze, and others materials. The last group entitled "Losing value" consists of wax paintings.
In his 23 artworks, Lebanese artist Emad Bishara used different techniques like canvas, paper and other materials, depending on "Arabesque" style. He disregarded theme and worked on white spaces placing abstract shapes in the middle of the paintings.
Spanish artist Susanna Lado is participating for the first time in an Arabic country exhibiting a number of abstract paintings done with a kind of paste she made. The unique touch in her works made the paintings send different effects. The artist said about her works: I work usually with textiles using the same acrylic colors; I also use other materials to make my own mix.
Besides the paintings and artworks, there were a number of photographic pictures displayed in the exhibition. German artist benedict summers displayed a number of photographic photos in black and white in which he embodied the everyday life of men and women doing their usual chores, or in a state of meditation, while he moves around to catch scenes of nature, with its fog and sand.
