The Foundation of Abdul Aziz Saud Al-Babtain Prize for Poetic Creativity and the Babtain Central Library for Arabic Poetry announced the names of the poets participating in the 3rd Spring Poetry Festival which will be held on the library's stage on March 22nd and 23rd, at 6.00pm. An exhibition about books in Qatar and writers abroad will take place on the sidelines of the festival.
The festival pays tribute to poets in Kuwait and abroad. Participants of the first poetry evening include: Abdulmohsen Al-Tabatabai and Hussein Al Andaleeb from Kuwait; Omar Anaz from Iraq; Ahmed Sweilem and Hanan Abdel-Qader from Egypt; and Ali Swaidan from Syria. There will also be poetry readings of poems by Dr. Fahad Al-Askar delivered by Dr. Mohammad Mustafa Abu Shawarib.
Participants in the second evening include: Abdul Aziz Saud Al-Babtain, Mohammed Al-Maghrabi, and Dalal Al Baroud; Huda Mikati from Lebanon; Jassim Al Sahih from Saudi Arabia; and from Egypt Islam Hajris. The evening will also include readings of poems by Abdullah Sinan delivered by poet Raja Al-Qahtani.
The festival will also present a symposium by the researcher Wadi Falasteen, addressing the issue of "The Poetry of the Diaspora and Some of its Icons", as the researcher bore witness to their lives and holds many memories of them.
