Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation in Dubai Hosts a Symposium on Poet and linguist Abu Bakr bin Duraid Al Azdi

Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation organizes a specialized symposium on poet and linguist (Abu Bakr bin Duraid Al Azdi) on Wednesday 27th and Thursday 28th, January, 2010 in two daily sessions with the participation of a selection of authors and intellectuals from UAE and Arab world. Dr. Mohammed Radwan Al Daya from Syria will present, on the first day, a paper entitled "Ibn Duraid's poetry (Maqsourat Ibn Duraid) and its annotations – critical and historical study", while Dr. Anisa Al Mansour from Bahrain will present a paper entitled "The Self and the Other in Ibn Duraid's poetry (Maqsourat Ibn Duraid)", Ahmed Rashid Thani from the UAE will present a paper entitled "What do we want from Ibn Duraid? - or the future of culture in the peninsula of Oman", and then Dr. Youssef Nofal from Egypt presents a paper entitled "Ibn Duraid as a poet", Dr. Ahmed Mohammad Obeid from UAE reads "places in the UAE in Ibn Duraid's poetry" (first paper) and Dr. Hossam Saeed Al Nuaimi from Iraq presents a paper entitled "Between Ain Al Khalil and Ibn Duraid's Jamharat allugha", and the sessions will be run alternatively by Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Mutawa and poet Habib Al Sayegh from UAE.
On the second day, Dr. Maher Mehdi Hilal from Iraq, presents his study "Ibn Duraid's language of poetry - a study in stylistic choice", Dr. Omar Abdul Aziz from Yemen presents a research study entitled "Ibn Duraid Al Azdi, a unique example of a long cultural time", Dr. Samar Rawhi Al Faisal from Syria presents a paper entitled " Ibn Duraid Al Azdi, the author and linguist", Saeed Al siqilawi from the Sultanate of Oman presents a paper entitled "Mohammed bin Al Hassan bin Duraid Al Azdi",  Dr Jalil Al Areedh from Bahrain addresses the "Heritage of Ibn Duraid" and Dr. Ahmad Mohammad Obeid from UAE concludes the symposium with his second paper "Vocals and articulation with Ibn Duraid", and the second day's sessions will be run by Dr. Fatima Al Sayegh and storywriter Basima Younis from UAE.
