Dureid Lahham Wins the "Sharjah Award for Arab Theatre Creativity"

Leading Syrian actor Dureid Lahham has won the 2012 Sharjah Award for Arab Theatre Creativity. The sixth edition of the Award went to Lahham in recognition of his many contributions towards enriching Arab Theatre during his career, which spanned many years. Lahham will receive the Award during the opening ceremony of the 22nd edition of the Sharjah Theatre Days, which will be held during the period from March 18-28, 2012.
It is worth mentioning that the Award was given at its first session to the late Egyptian thespian; Saad Ardash. Moreover, in its second session, the Award went to Moroccan artist Thuraya Jubran, went to Lebanese actress Nidal Al Ashqar in the third session, was awarded to Kuwaiti actor Saad Al Faraj in the fifth session, and to Egyptian actress Samiha Ayyoub in the 6th session.
The new edition of the Sharjah Theatre Days will be accompanied by numerous cultural activities and events; such as the "Cultural Forum", which brings together a great number of theatre researchers, in addition to an exhibition for books about the theatre, and training workshops. Furthermore, the activities will include cultural and media programs that will run for the duration of the Sharjah Theatre Days Festival, as well as the "Sharjah Gathering for Leading Arab Theatre Personalities".
