During the week, visitors can expect to enjoy a gallery of sculptures, ceramics and figurines, as well as attend a Chinese feature film (with Arabic subtitles), a musical concert representing Chinese cultural heritage, and a seminar on Arab-Chinese cultural exchange with Chinese intellectuals participating in fluent Arabic. The Beijing Opera will perform at the closing ceremony, and the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation will publish an anthology of selected="true" works by contemporary Chinese authors translated into Arabic.
The Art Exhibition will open at 7pm on Monday evening, 22 February 2010, and will offer a dramatic tale illustrated by the works of art in ceramics and sculptures. Beauty and Melody, a modern women's dance troupe whose members are young women musicians, all graduates of musical institutes and talented in both music and dance, will present a concert combining traditional Chinese musical instruments and Western performance skills.
The cultural events continue on Tuesday, 23 February, with the presentation of the Chinese film Chun Sao and Her Mother, in the presence of the film's director, Yang Yaozu, and the heroine Tao Hong.
A specialized symposium will be held on Wednesday evening, 24 February 2010, covering the deep historical and cultural ties between the Arabs and China, with lectures by: Professor Shu-Ching Kuo, and Professor Gao Youzhen, the Chinese Consul in Dubai. The Chinese Cultural Week concludes with an evening concert by the Beijing Opera at 8pm, Thursday evening, 25 February 2010.
This event is the fruitful result of the intensive efforts and meetings with the Chinese Ministry of Culture during the visit of a delegation from the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation to the People's Republic of China, and the reciprocal visit by a Chinese cultural delegation to the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation to put the final organizational touches on the Chinese Cultural Week at the Foundation.
