| A writer from the U.A.E wins a literary award in the U.S.A |
 Author Services, Inc., US, has selected="true"="true" the Emirati writer "Dr. Salem Humaid", senior manager of cultural affairs department in The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, as the culture person of the year in its 26th annual achievement Oscar which gathered the best rising Science-Fiction writers and authors in the world. Each year, one local or international person is selected="true"="true" to be honored in this international event. Dr. Humaid, the only Arab participant, is the first honored Arab person since the beginning of the event 26 years ago. Dr. Salem Humaid, representing The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, made a speech in which he praised the American organization for its support of the writing and publishing of Science-Fiction.
Dr. Humaid was honored in the ceremonies held by "Writers of the future" contest, which is concerned with Science-Fiction, on Saturday, August 28th evening at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, Hollywood city.
The "Writers of the future" contest organizers praised Dr. Humaid for his role in enhancing cultural relationships between U.A.E. and U.S.A. in the last two years and for his cultural contributions by writing in English in the Emirati Publications issued in English.
The "Writers of the future" contest was established by the deceased Science-Fiction writer "Ron Hubbard" who died back in 1986. It is considered the most important global contest for Science-Fiction writers and authors. The American Author Services organization holds the ceremonies annually since 1983 to honor Science-Fiction rising writers from all over the world. The event itself is considered one of the most important events in this field as it enables Science-Fiction writers and authors from all continents to meet major American Science-Fiction Movie writers. Hundreds of writers and authors from 147 countries participated in the Oscar ceremonies this year, held in Hollywood city last Saturday.
It is expected that the American Author Services organization will issue the Audio/Visual Arabic versions of the works of the deceased American writer Ron Hubbard within the next few months under the supervision of Dr. Salem Humaid who was chosen to supervise the Arabization. |
