The 1st Session of the Arab Forum on Prose Poetry will be launched in Cairo, Egypt, on Wednesday, 10 March 2010. The forum which will run for four days, with events taking place at the headquarters of the Egyptian Writers Union, the Library of Alexandria, the House of the Poet, and the Film Institute at the current Academy of Arts.
Speakers at the opening ceremony will be Mohamed Salmawy, Head of the Egyptian Writers Association; Dr. Abdel Moneim Talima, Chairman of the Firum; and Moroccan poet Mohammed Bennis. This will be followed by the honoring each of Austrian-based Lebanese poet Wadie Sa'ada; Egyptian poet Farid Abu Saada; Saudi Arabian poet Fawzia Abu Khaled; poet Abdul Aziz Muwafi; and the name of the late poet Mohammad Saleh.
The Forum will revolve around five main critiquing axes addressing the reality of prose poetry and its development in the Arab world, with the participation of over 15 critics from Syria, Morocco, Saudi Arabia and Libya. The program also includes seven poetry evenings, the last of which will be devoted to the prose poem in Saudi Arabia, followed by the closing ceremony and the announcement of forum award winners.
