Celebrating 10 years on the inauguration of the Arts Center in 2001, which coincides with the centenary of the birth of Prominent Egyptian Writer Naguib Mahfouz, the Arts Center supports the production of short films inspired by Mahfouz’s last book Ahlam Fatrat El-Naqaha (Dreams of the Rehabilitation Period).
The third edition of Plaza project is held under the supervision of the Centre and aims to support young Egyptian filmmakers through producing short films take place on the Plaza of Civilization.
In this special round, the concept of plaza has transcended the narrow place of the Plaza of Civilization to a wider concept, were the imaginations of young filmmakers blend together.
The idea was inspired by a project presented from FigLeaf studios, the private studio in Alexandria interested in producing independent films. The Arts Center funds four films inspired by Mahfouz’s book Ahlam Fatrat El-Naqaha (Dreams of the Rehabilitation Period).
