A Legendary Performance by the China National Opera House Troupe at the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation in Dubai

The Beijing-based China National Opera House Symphony Orchestra gave a gala music concert on Sunday evening, January 29, 2012, at the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation. The concert, organized by the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation in cooperation with the Chinese Ministry of Culture, featured tens of talented musicians and opera singers amidst a large audience that filled the Theatre Hall of Al Owais Cultural Foundation. For 90 minutes, the audience, which comprised various nationalities lead by the Chinese expat community in Dubai, enjoyed a collection of musical masterpieces by some of the world's leading composers; exquisitely performed by members of the China National Opera House Symphony Orchestra. The skillful musicians used only string instruments; such as the contrabass and the cello, which made up for the absence of percussion and brass instruments.
The concert was attended by Members of the Board of Trustees of Al Owais Cultural Foundation lead by H.E. Abdul Ghaffar Hussein, and H.E. Abdul Hamid Ahmed; Secretary General of the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation. Also present were Dr. Fatima Al Sayegh and Dr. Mohammad Abdullah Al Mutawa; Members of the Board of Trustees of Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation. The Foundation's Secretary General presented the Art Director of the China National Opera House; Mr. Zhu Man, with the Foundation's commemorative shield. Moreover, the President of the China National Opera House presented a similar shield to Al Owais Cultural Foundation; which was received by Dr. Fatima Al Sayegh. Furthermore, Dr. Mohammad Abdullah Al Mutawa presented the soprano Guo Chengcheng and the tenor Li Shuang with a bouquet of flowers, while a similar bouquet of flowers was presented to the first violinist Li Chan by the young violinist Sham Mansour.



The China National Opera House Symphony Orchestra performed a collection of string music including: "Ancient Airs and Dances, III Suite for Strings" by Respighi , "The China Ancient Song: Great Night" by Liu Tianhua, "Happy Sarreyha"                     by Zhang Shuocheng, "Spring of Xinjiang" by Ma Yaohui and Li Zhonghan, and "Les Illuminations op.18 for high voice (Soprano)" by Britten.
Next, the soprano preformed "Pamier, My Hometown is Beautiful" by Zheng Qiufeng, and "A Xinjiang folk Song: A cup of wine" by Wang Luobin.
Later on, the tenor Li Shuang performed "O sole mio" by Eduardo di Capua, and "Nessun dorma" by Giacomo Puccini.
In conclusion, the soprano Guo Chengcheng and the tenor Li Shuang performed a duet of "That is me" by Xiao Guang and Gu Jianfen, and "La Traviata" byVerdi.
The concert marks the beginning of a year filled with cultural activities for the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation. The Foundation has prepared an eventful program for 2012, which includes the Prize Distribution Ceremony for the 12th session of Al Owais Cultural Awards and the Silver Jubilee Celebration of the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Awards.
The China National Opera House, founded in 1952, is the national opera house affiliated to the Chinese Ministry of Culture. It is a leading opera house that features some of the most exceptional talents and artistic performances in China and the Asia-Pacific region. The China National Opera House consists of an opera troupe, a choir, a symphony orchestra and a stagecraft department. Thanks to the persistent efforts of generations of artists over more than half a century, the China National Opera House has debuted, staged and preformed a series of world famous operas around the world.
The concerts are considered a fruit of the cultural cooperation between the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation and the Ministry of Culture of the People's Republic of China. The Foundation had organized field trips to a number of Chinese institutions in the second half of 2011, which aimed to introduce aspects of Emirati and Arab culture to the Chinese public. Moreover, the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation has organized a number of Chinese cultural activities in Dubai; including the Chinese Cultural Weeks, which comprised art exhibitions, seminars, musical concerts, and film screenings, in addition to exhibitions of miniatures and handicrafts and cooking events.
