| Beijing Opera Concludes Chinese Culture Week at Al Owais |

The Chinese Cultural Week hosted by the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation in Dubai ended on Thursday evening, 25 February 2010. The cultural week included an exhibition of art, sculpture, ceramics, and feature films, as well as a concert representing Chinese cultural heritage and a seminar on Arab-Chinese cultural exchange delivered in fluent Arabic by Chinese intellectuals. A concert by the Beijing Opera concluded the week's events. The Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation will be issuing an anthology of selected="true"="true" literature, short stories, poems and testimonies of contemporary Chinese authors.
This week was the culmination of intensive efforts, preparations and meetings with the Chinese Ministry of Culture conducted during a visit by a delegation from the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation to the People's Republic of China. A Chinese cultural delegation also come to Dubai to visit the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation; the fruitful result of which was an event considered the first of its kind in the region in terms of size and diversity.
The Beijing Opera, which concluded the events, performed four musical interludes representing Chinese heritage on Al Owais theater. The audience, including a large segment from the Chinese community was enthralled by the music, dancing, acting and ornate costumes offered up by the young troupe with great talent, skill and agility.
After the concert finale, Mr. Abdel Hamid Ahmed paid tribute to the troupe members and presented them with Al Owais commemorative shield; he went on to exchange conversation with troupe members as commemorative photos recorded these final moments. |
