Tunisian novelist and critic, Radhouane El Kouni, passed away on Tuesday, July 27th, 2010 at the age of 65. The Tunisian Ministry of Culture and Heritage Preservation, the Union of Tunisian Writers and the Abul Qasim Youth Cultural Club mourned the departed author who was considered a pioneer in short story writing in Tunisia.
Formerly president of the Novella club and member of the Tunisian Writers' Union, El Kouni had recently received an award from President Ben Ali in the field of arts and literature at the 2010 Culture Day. His major works include novels, literary columns, critical studies, plays, and short stories. Some of his prominent novels include: Ras Al Darb (1993), Saheel Al Rouman (1998), Reid Al Masa'aed (2005), Darawich Al Saha (2009), as well as two short story collections Al Karasi Al Maqlouba (1973) and Al Nafaq (1983).
