"Muhtaref – How to write a novel" in Beirut, established and managed by Novelist Najwa Barakat, announced that they have started accepting applications for their second course from all Arab countries. The first course produced three first-time novels for young writers, the first of which, written by "Rasha Al-Atrash" had the title "Soap" and was published by "Dar Al-Saqi". The second and third, written by "Rana Najjar" and "Hilal Shoman", however, will be published through a partnership between "Muhtaref" and "Dar Al-Adab" in Beirut in the fall of 2010. Because of this success of the first course, "Barakat" decided to extend the second course to include two new workshops: Writing for theatre and writing for cinema.
Those who are interested in such an experience may send summaries of their projects, (1-5) A4 pages, to mohtarafat@hotmail.com starting from today. Deadline is September 30th 2010. They may also send any texts they might have written previously. All three workshops will start around the middle of the fall of 2010 in Beirut. Each workshop will be divided into four separate stages and will extend over a whole year. Each stage however will last for 7 to 10 days approximately.
