Emirati and Algerian Join the List of Zayed Prize Winners

Emirati author, Qais Sedki, won the Sheikh Zayed Book Award for Children's Literature for his book The Gold Bracelet published by Page Flip Publishing, 2008, UAE. While Dr. Hafnaoui Baali of Algeria won the Sheikh Zayed Book Award for Literature for his book Introduction to the Theory of Cultural Comparative Criticism published by Arab Scientific Publishers, Lebanon 2007.
The decision of the Advisory Body for the prize giving Baali Literature Prize for his book "Introduction in the Theory of Comparative Cultural Criticism," because it represents a critical addition knowledge of the currents and Acculturation in the updated manifestations in the era of the image and the various means of communication.
Dr. Hafnaoui Baali, holder of State doctorate in Arts and Humanities, works as a writer, journalist and Academic researcher, and occupies the position of Professor of Higher Education, Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the University of "Annaba" in Algeria; he was awarded the City and Creativity critical prize in 2002 and the first International Prize in Theatre and Criticism Studies. He has Many published works in literature, criticism and poetry. He also works as The Secretary General of the Society of Comparative Literature in Algeria.
About the reasons of the winning of Qais Sedki's book "The Gold Bracelet", the jury report stated: The author approaches an important subject, linked particularly, to the Arab environment, and talks about raising and training falcons, employing the technique of image based on dialogue and brief comments and linking parts of the story together in a connected narrative format, the book also involves Arab noble and generous values and ethics such as hospitality, respect for elders, showing compassion toward orphans, social solidarity and preserving the heritage, and the book is also distinguished for its originality and ease of style and for being a combination of benefit and excitement.
The illustrations of  "The Gold Bracelet" was done by the internationally reputed duo "Akira Himikawa", associated with drawing Japanese illustrated stories and adventure stories of the "Nintendo" company for electronic games, and stories of "Astro Boy", known locally as "Cookie", in addition to other famous stories such as "The Legend of Zelda."
Qais Sedki has clear concerns in child literature, Japanese arts "Manga". Sidki received a Master degree in Business Administration from the American University of Sharjah in the UAE, and has writer a number of illustrated novels in Arabic.
Finally, the prize for the winner of the best technology in the field of culture, publishing and distribution in February 15, 2010 and this year's edition will be concluded with the annual ceremony which will take place on March 3, 2010 on the sidelines of the activities of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair.
