Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation announces the Names of the Winners of the 11th session (2008 - 2009)

Abdul Aziz al-Maqaleh, Al Taher Wattar, Abdul Salam Al Misaddi and Jalal Amin won Al Owais Cultural Awards (11th session) and the award Secretary-General Abdul Hamid Ahmed said, in a press release issued by the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation in Dubai, that after deliberation and discussion the jury unanimously reached its decision about the winning of the above mentioned innovators out of (1183) candidates who applied for the award until the end of February, 2009.
The Secretary-General added that (Maqaleh, Wattar, Al Misaddi and Amin), represent an intellectual and creative elite that has served the Arabic culture at large, and for decades has contributed to the consolidation of national and human values in Arab society, which resulted in a very positive impact on the minds of successive generations, and the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Foundation, while awarding this elite, is proud of their joining the Award winners club.
Abdul Hamid Ahmad said that the jury of the poetry has selected="true"="true"="true" the Yemeni poet Abdul Aziz al-Maqaleh from (209) candidates in the field of poetry for his excellence in the investment of the modern poem through a special language that formed an artistic approach, and was able, for years, to work on the employment of heritage, national and humanitarian symbols in his poetry converting it into a rich aesthetic energy inspiring the generations, and thus the jury rewards the pure poetic language of the deep metaphor dimension.
The jury of story, novel and play field has selected="true"="true"="true" the Algerian novelist Al Taher Wattar from (262) candidates in this field for his experimental ability that mixed originality with social reality, and for his boldness in building up the characters and events to handle local and environmental issues in a developed language close in its general spirit to classic novel, And thus the jury rewards the novel of the minute details that touches the ordinary people and befriends their lives.
Secretary-General added that the jury of criticism and literary studies field has decided to give the prize to the Tunisian critic Abdul Salam Al Misaddi from (211) candidates in this field for his leadership in bridging the Arabic criticism with the contemporary linguistics studies, as he worked for years in the detection of the criticism approaches with holistic vision trying to simplify them for scholars and readers, and benefiting from traditional contexts, which reconcile and communicate with the text, and thus the jury rewards the accuracy and comprehensiveness of clear systematic criticism.
Ahmed also said in his press release that the jury of the Futuristic and Humanitarian studies field has selected="true"="true"="true" the Egyptian thinker Jalal Amin to grant him the award out of (353) candidates for the diversity of his production in economics, politics, society and culture, and for his persistence to deploy the enlightenment values in society, taking the slogan of Comprehensive Development as a method of deep and accurate work at the same time, as well as his theoretical project that does not separate the economic development in the Arab world from culture and life, Thus the jury awarded the authenticity of his intellectual development-centered production.
Finally, Abdul Hamid Ahmad concluded his statement saying that the Award for Scientific and Cultural Achievement of this session will be announced soon, as the Board of Trustees currently examines the names of the candidates (184 candidates) to choose the winner, and the awards ceremony will be held in March, 2010.
It is noteworthy that the value of the award is $ U.S. 600,000, that is $ U.120,000 for each field, and the number of the winners so far is 63 Arab innovators, and the juries have included about 150 judges and advisers of good conscience from different cultural trends.
