• Born in Saidon, Lebanon, 1935
• Graduated in 1958 and worked in teaching
• Began her work in criticism in 1960s
• Did her PhD in Arabic literature from Sorbonne in 1977 and returned to lecture in the Lebanese University
• Had her articles published in well known Arab publications
• Was a visiting lecturer in many Arab and foreign universities
• Member of Lebanon’s Writers’ Union
• Published many short stories

Dr. Yuman Al Eid’s works in general reveal a deep understanding of modern criticism. Her strength is that she can convey a lot through the use of very few words. Hence her criticism includes a lot of personal views. There is a judicious use of imagery to convey her thoughts to the readers. Using methodology, Dr. Yuman Al Eid makes a distinctive mark on criticism.
