Fifth Circle 1996-1997
- Born in Tilla Almanoufiya, Egypt, 1935
- Graduated from Education School, 1955
- Started his career in journalism in Sabah Al Khair magazine, 1956, and relocated to Damascus where he worked for six months in 1959 following the Union
- Became head of the Culture Dept. at Rose Al Yousef magazine, 1965, then its Editor, 1969
- Dismissed from Rose Al Yousef. He was on the list of 108 Egyptian journalists sacked by the President Sadat in 1973
- Returned to Rose Al Yousef after the dismissal was revoked
- Dismissed again by the Sadat Government and travelled to France in 1974 to settle there
- Became a lecturer in Arabic Literature at Paris and Sorbonne universities
- Did his higher diploma in 1979
- Did his higher diploma in developed studies in Arabic Literature, 1980
- Started writing for Al Ahram in 1990
- Became Editor-in-Chief of Ibda’a late in 1990

A leading and pioneering figure in the innovative school of poetry, Ahmed Abdul Mutti Hijazi has a lot of experience. He has witnessed the transformation of modern Arabic poetry. His poetry developed from being realistic and committed into a structure that enhances aesthetic values and individual experience. This made him very special, without diminishing its power to convey the message.
